Is your idea of self-care hiding in the bathroom so you can scroll through Instagram without getting a block thrown at your head?

Or maybe you’re the mom who hides in the closet eating candy hoping no one sniffs you out.

It’s time for that to change.

Yesterday my husband pointed out something so interesting to me and I bet you do the same thing

I was adding stuff to my Amazon cart and he looked at my phone and asked, “why is everything in there only for the baby?”

I didn’t even realize it!

So I went back through my previous orders and almost EVERYTHING I’ve ordered was for my daughter.

Then I grabbed my Productivity Power Pack and realized that I never block in time for self-care.

Why is that?

It’s because I’m so used to ONLY doing things for her instead of doing things for BOTH of us.

But here’s the thing, it’s hard to practice self-care when you think the only way to pamper yourself is to sit in a bubble bath with a glass of wine.

So let’s define self-care so you can include it in your daily routine.

What does self-care really mean

Self-care is any activity that nourishes your mind, body, and soul.

Taking care of yourself as a whole is the key to refueling and becoming the best version of you.

So whenever you’re deciding on a self-care activity ask yourself if it helps you mentally, physically, or spiritually.

3 mistakes you’re probably making [and how to fix it]

After talking with many moms, I’ve found that most of them make these 3 self-care mistakes that hold them back from doing things for themselves.

1. Feeling guilty

For some reason (probably thanks to tv and social media) we think that taking any time for ourselves makes us selfish.

Have you ever noticed that you get angry more often when you’re feeling overwhelmed?

That’s a sign you need to make time for yourself.

When you don’t take time for yourself your family suffers because you’re trying to fill everyone else’s cup when yours is empty.

It’s like the flight attendant says, put on your own oxygen mask before you start putting on someone else’s.

You can only do so much when you’re running on fumes.

So stop feeling guilty for charging your battery and operating at 100%.

2. Not making time

How many times have you said you’re gonna make a hair appointment but you never do?

It’s not enough to just PLAN on doing something.

You have to put it on your schedule.

In your Productivity Power Pack use the time blocking template to schedule your self-care.

3. Limiting self-care activities

When you think of self-care you may think of sitting in a bubble bath with a glass of wine.

And yes that’s great, but there’s so much more to self-care than that.

Think outside the box and find unique ways to pamper yourself.

Enjoyable

Your self-care activity should be something you actually enjoy doing, not what you THINK you should be doing.

If you hate getting your nails done because you always mess them up before you even get home, then don’t do it.

Find activities you actually enjoy and look forward to doing.

Time

It’s not enough to just say you’re going to do something. Put it on your schedule and follow through.

Another option is to wake up earlier or go to bed later if you’ll still get plenty of rest.

Accountability

The secret sauce to making your self-care routine work consistently is to make yourself a priority.
